Yesterday I moved up to Level 3 of both Bob Harper's Weight Loss Yoga and the Biggest Lose Cardio Max. It's definitely NOT anything like Level 3 of the 30 Day Shred, that's for sure.
Kim Lyons, who I've never seen in action before, puts folks through a fairly low impact boxing type work out. It was definitely a nice break on the knees, but way easier than the Level 2 Cardio Max with Jillian Michaels. I was sweating by the end, and out of breath, but I'm surprised that they used her to do the Level 3. I imagine if you did the entire DVD at once, there's no way you could continue on with another Jillian type series for Level 3, but on its own, it's a low impact workout.
As far as the Weight Loss Yoga went, Level 3 is a 10-minute strength session, which was a nice addition since none of the dvds we've done (even the 30 Day Shred) have a true strength workout. Using weights in your upper body and yoga stances in your lower, you go through bicep curls, tricep kickbacks (mine still hurt), as well as other back rows, and chest flies. It's not hugely challenging, but again, a nice addition, and a good combination with the Level 3 Cardio Max. Plus, you can always use 5 or even 10lb weights to make it harder.
There are no abs, other than the series of pushups (hey, I did REAL PUSHUPS PEOPLE!), but since I did 10 days of the yoga pilates abs (level 2), I didn't feel like it was that lacking. However, if you like to train abs every day, you will feel like something is missing.
I've decided to alternate days with that and then an Exercisetv.tv workout for the next 10 days. I'm sort of in maintenance mode for now (although I'd love to get down to 160 by the end of the month). I've got to get my dress to the tailor this week and I'm curious to see how it fits (or better, how it doesn't).
And now for the Earth Day giveaway.
I received a free Clear2Go Filtered Water Bottle to test out and since I'm only drinking water these days, it seemed like something worth trying. It comes with a replaceable filter attached, so you can load it up with any kind of water you can find and it filters it for you. And it cuts down on plastic bottles, which is ALWAYS a good thing!
There are a few things I like about this bottle (and I've tried several plastic filtered water bottles before):
- It doesn't taste like plastic (yay for that)
- It doesn't taste like the filter (another yay)
- The spout top is actually a little hard to open - which I like because it means it won't accidentally open and spill everywhere.
If *you'd like to win a bottle of your own, leave a comment and tell me how you drink your water. Do you carry a water bottle around with you? Are you slugging it from a glass? Plastic cup? Big Gulp and straw? I'll pick one US winner at random via random.org. (Contest ends Friday, April 24 at Midnight EST, US residents only, void where prohibited).
*You must be a shredhead listed in the sidebar in order to win.
Good Luck and happy water drinking!
