I've been a little concerned about what weaning my 15 month old will do to my weight. In the past, I've always lost weight after I've stopped breastfeeding.
However, I've never been at this weight when I've weaned, so I have this feeling that things might go the other way.
And while complete weaning is not on the immediate horizon, I want to be prepared. I also have found myself over indulging in foods (and beverages) that I really don't need.
That combination is not good.
I did so well over the last few months mainly because my husband was gone. I'm not completely a drink alone type of person, and I'm not a huge sweets person either. But upon his return, there's been more drinking. And given his ridiculously high metabolism (and a penchant for sweets), he loves to have cookies and cakes (that I'd never keep around ever) around.
But in the spirit of staying healthy, I'm joining Vicky from The Mummy Chronicles and will be attempting to cut out alcohol and processed sugar for the month of January.
To be honest with you, I actually think the sugar will be harder.
I currently drink only water and tea, and I don't eat after 8pm, so I admit that adding yet another limit on my diet might be challenging.
But then I found out that Mrs. Flinger as well as Julie from The Mom Slant are also attempting to curb their drinking for health and fitness reasons, and so I felt more confident that I could do it too.
We'll see how things go! And if you'd like to join us, please do. You can find everyone on twitter.

Confessing: I totally want my glass of wine tonight. And I KNOW it's only 100 calories but I kicked my own ass for that 100 calories this morning. Plus it prob wouldn't be a real 6oz glass, more like a 10 oz for 150 calories?
And there's no amount of wine that can make me want to spend another 15 minutes with Jillian tomorrow.
Hoping day 1 is easier for you!

I'm going to cut out alcohol, although, I may be doing it for other reasons. I think I consumed more in December than I did in the months leading up to it (which isn't really saying much).
When I was trying to get pregnant, I quit drinking and got pregnant right away. This time, I'm not getting pregnant and drinking more than I'm used to. I don't know if they're related but no more alcohol for me.

I dreamed of sugar last night. This is not going to be easy for me. Though it beat having that insane sex dream about Edward from Twilight which I had the night before. WTF?

as i type this, a glass of a lovely, buttery chardonnay is at my right hand. i don't think i can commit to this challenge just yet. but i am all for the decade of a tighter ass so perhaps, maybe...

The sugar would be easy for me. Now, if the idea was to cut out meat then I would probably weep like a baby.
The alcohol would be a hard thing for me to cut out. It's become a bit of a ritual for me to pour a vodka tonic [or three] at night as I work. I wonder how many calories vodka tonics have?

I'm not a drinker much at all, so that isn't an issue. I have a huge liquor cabinet in my basement that never gets touched.
However, sugar is just not good for me as a future diabetic, so it is back out of my life. I allow one sugar in my coffee, and the occasional unavoidable ingredient, but no "sweets". If I MUST sweeten something, I'll go for the honey first.
