Since finishing the half-marathon back in October, I've been trying to figure out what to do with myself. I'm still running, mostly because it's cheap and I can do it whether my husband (who's back at work now) is around or not.
I finished the Gobble Jog 10K on Thanksgiving in under 60 minutes, and I have my sights set on our neighborhood 5K on December 12 - my goal being to finish that in 27 minutes or less.
But other than that, I've been experimenting with what to do with myself.
Yep. I'm bored.
I'm solidly at my goal weight, or quite frankly, well below it. And so now, I'm in maintenance mode which just so happens to be a very dangerous place for me.
And with the holidays coming and a weaned toddler on the horizon, I notice that I'm not being as strict with my diet.
Honestly, I don't know what my resolutions are for this month. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do, but I know that in order for me to keep up what I've achieved, I do need to set some solid goals and objectives.
I did find a great deal on a gym membership, specifically the place that offered the kickboxing (as well as other classes - like spinning, etc.) class that I took, so I joined. They offer childcare, a great series of classes, and a regular open gym that I can utilize if I so choose. Even if I only take 2 classes a month, I'll get my money's worth.
Told you it was a good deal.
I went back to ballet class, though I have to admit, I was feeling a bit uninspired (though once again, sorer than hell!).
And I even tried a pole dancing class. While that has left my upper body outrageously sore, I'm covered in bruises. Not sure if I can take that on a regular basis.
I definitely enjoy taking the kickboxing classes with my neighbors (and I'm looking forward to trying a spinning class), as well as running the races, but I need to have another major goal set if I'm going to keep up.
So for me, this month is about experimenting, and trying to figure out what my goals will be for the new year. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Hi Kristen, I'm in sort of the same position as you are with regard to goals. I've been exercising since march and my youngest is now 9 months. He's still bfing round the clock, but I know that will stop someday (it will, won't it???). So... my goal is a marathon. Would you be up for that? If you can comfortably run a half-marathon distance, you can complete a marathon if you put in the work. I'm loving the training because it lets me go onto auto-pilot with my workouts, which I need right now since I'm exhausted and strung out with the kids. No negotiating with myself about how tired I am, how many times the baby had me up win the night, I just follow my training schedule (Hal Hidgeon). After the marathon, my next goal is going to be doing all the local 5 and 10K races that I can over the spring and summer with my double jogger. Lugging my kids to races and pushing that gd thing up all the hills around here is going to make me feel like a super hero, which, you know, never hurts:)

I experimented with dance classes after my half, which were wonderful fun, but just not enough exercise to be a real workout for me. So I'm back to running. Half in Feb, full(?) in Oct next year. From there, maybe a triathlon? :)

Was thinking about a tri too, Quix. I've got a book tour to contend with all Spring long, so we'll see. I'm impressed - I don't think I can do a full marathon - or at least live to tell about it.

My resolution for the rest of the year is to drop one pants size (losing 4.6 kgs in the process). I've just bought the SHRED DVD thanks to you guys. On day 2. It's not bad.

Dude, do they have ice rinks in Atlanta? Try figure skating lessons. You will discover a whole new set of muscles you didn't know you had. (Still sore from Sunday!)
