Holy cow, September is nearly over! How is everyone doing on their September challenge?
Okay, enough small talk. Let's get to it. For October, we're doing two challenges.
30 Day Shred Challenge (sign up)
For our first challenge, we're going back to our roots. That's right, it's an old fashioned 30 Day Shred challenge. Eat right (hopefully) and Shred regularly in October, and get in shape. We'll post results along the way. Not only will the winner(s) get bragging rights, we're also trying to wrangle up some spiffy prizes. That's right, I said spiffy. I'm bringing it back.
So have your scale and measuring tape ready at the beginning of the challenge, and take before pictures! You don't have to show them, but you'll be glad you have them. And we're a nice group if you want to post them to our Flickr pool.
Running Challenge (sign up)
For our second challenge, we want to support the Shredheads who are beginning to run (or who have already begun). The weather is perfect (most places) to sign up for a race (5K or longer) in late October or November. If you haven't started running yet, it's a great time to begin a Couch to 5K training program. If you're already running, try signing up for something a little longer than your comfort zone. I just ran my first 10K and it was amazing (read about it in my next post). And as an added bonus, a race is a great chance to meet other Shredheads near you!
If you want to participate, SIGN UP HERE for one or both challenges. We'd love to have you along for the ride, and please, please blog and tweet about your experiences. The more people contribute, the more we all get out of this!

I'm planning to do both a 5K and 10K in November, and will be Shredding regularly in October. Anybody want to join me?

Can I sign up for the 3 days of the week I'm not taking pilates, kickboxing, or playing hockey? Hee.

My living situation does not support doing the shred but I can commit to a 5k, at least as a walk-runner. And as I'll be going back to the gym this month, I will join you with the workouts I put myself through there (however un-Shred-like they are.) I hope that's okay - I could use the company!

Dudes, I am planning on signing up for my first 5K this November -- the turkey trot in Boston. And yes, I'm a little freaked out.
Thanks to the Couch to 5K I can definitely run 25 minutes though, so at least I know I can make it through most of it. Next intervals are 28 and 30 minutes. I'm alternating running with yoga because I find I really need to stretch things out after runs.
Thanks for the continued inspiration!!
xoxo Christine

I'll do the 30 days of shredding. I'm going to be starting week 4 of c25k program so I'm not ready for a 5k quite yet.

For anyone who is interested in running - November 8 is "World Run Day" so there are a TON of events organized: http://www.runday.com/ I think the October challenge is the push I need to get myself signed up for something!

Count me in for both Shred & 10K Run. I do a 5K distance as my few times/wk mileage, so in order for it to be a "challenge" I had to up the ante. I've completed the 30DS once before, but that was last year. I'm still active, but it never hurts to have your butt handed to you by Jillian. Actually, it hurts a lot. But we love it, right? I'm going to blog about my Oct journey.

I'm in for both!

i'm already signed up for a 5K this weekend and another the beginning of November. Jenn aka @perkysgrl is signed up for the same 5K in November. she is one of my shredheads converts but a dear friend of mine as well. i'm looking for a 10K after that and i am really hoping to step up and improve this running of mine.
i am definitely excited to see so many people signing on as shredheads and getting results and progressing. this is all really something, isnt it?

Ok I'm doing the shred. It will help me win the weight loss bet I have with my mom.

I've got a 5K on 10/11, but I have GOT to get back into Shredding, since it's already getting cold here. (Which is completely unacceptable)
I've got a Family 5K in December that I have to bring my "A" game for.
