I've been fairly lean and fit my entire life, but was left a good 25lbs overweight (and pretty depressed) after having my third child in October 2008.
With a family wedding looming in May 2009, I decided I needed to drop the pounds but as a writer, columnist, blogger, and work-at-home mom of three kids, I couldn't spend long hours at the gym every day.
So I decided to do the 30 Day Shred for the entire month of March.
I lost 12lbs and dropped a complete size doing only 20 minutes of exercise a day and moderately adjusting my diet.
I continued working out daily with Bob Harper's Weight Loss Yoga and Cardio Max, as well as a modified program from Exercisetv.tv.
I lost another 8lbs and five inches.
I've run three 5K races (33:34, 30:ish, 28:37) and am currently training for a 10K this fall. And I've lost over 30lbs since March 2009.
Update 12/20/09: I've since run 2 10K races (1:12, and 56:30) and a half-marathon (2:19) as well as another 5K (26:50) and am currently training for the Disney Princess Half Marathon. I mix in kickboxing and spinning classes, as well as the 30 Day Shred in with my running program. I'm still breastfeeding my 14 month old a few times a day, and aside from just trying to eat healthy, I drink only water and tea and don't eat after 8pm.
I have lost almost 50lbs, weighing in at 140lbs and now wear a size 6.
March 2009 and June 2009
Here's how you can get started on the 30 Day Shred.
