My weight problems all began when I got pregnant.
OK, I guess that's a bit of a stretch, even for The Internets. I'm really a stay-at-home dad who neither enjoys nor has time for the gym. Add to that a love of eating, and, well, I've had to lose weight a few times.
You can read all the sordid details, but basically I grew up fat. I lost 90 pounds in grad school, gained it (plus 25) back, and then lost 115 pounds through Weight Watchers when I finally realized I weighed over 300 pounds.
In 2006, while we were expecting our second child, we moved and I stopped paying attention to myself, so I gained 20 pounds by September 2008. A high-stress couple of weeks resulted in my gaining another 25 pounds in October alone, so I rejoined WW in November. By March I'd lost 35 pounds, but realized that diet alone wasn't going to work this time - fortunately the Shredheads came along!
Doing Shred in March helped me lose another 5 pounds, and in April I continued doing Jillian's videos (30 Day Shred, No More Trouble Zones, and Banish Fat Boost Metabolism). By the end of April I'd lost another 7 pounds and was at my goal weight, having lost 48 pounds. I've lost more than 6 inches since April and fit comfortably into my skinny clothes - what more could I ask for?
I'm training to run a 5K, but also regularly Shred because the workout is so convenient. And that's important, because this time I have to keep the weight off!
