We've hinted around and given you some pretty cryptic messages, but today is the day that we're proud to announce that for the month of May (and part of June), the Shredheads are training for a 5K.
Yes. You read that correctly.
We'll be following this 5k in 6 weeks program and interspersing our own choices of workouts depending on how we're feeling, however, both Bill and I were feeling strong and ready to up the ante for the next 6 weeks. We've both registered for 5Ks (which both happen to be on June 20), and we'll be running them (hopefully).
If you're interested in joining us, we'll be choosing a charity and the winner (Team Bob or Team Jillian) will get to use money (we'll talk about where that's coming from soon) to support their choice. And we'll have mini challenges and more giveaways and prizes (hopefully).
This doesn't mean you should run screaming, because there are plenty of folks still doing the 30 Day Shred, as well as other great workouts, and we still want to provide support and inspiration. But keep in mind, we've been going since the beginning of March, and in order for us to keep motivating ourselves, we need to challenge ourselves a bit more.
Speaking of challenges, who do you think came out on top for the month of April - Team Bob or Team Jillian? Well, you'll just have to wait until later on to find out.

So the cryptic post in question (see the Peter Brady post a few days ago)...yeah. Look at the first letter of each sentence.
What can I say? I told you I wrote it for my own amusement! :)

And if, like me, you aren't ready for the program Kristen linked to, I'll have one tomorrow that's a little easier on beginning runners...

Count me in! I am planning on running a 5K on June 18 so it would work perfectly! And since I am already on team Jillian I will continue with my fearless leader Bill :)

I used to LOVE running a 5K, but, now, I'm. Not. Sure. I'd consider walking a 5K but I feel so wussy doing that, but it may be all my body lets me do. Maybe I'll go out for a jog this weekend and see how that goes.

FOM - I've NEVER run before, so don't worry about performance!

I'm planning to run my first 5k on June 6th. I struggled a lot when I started running - I didn't think I'd EVER be able to run for half an hour straight - but it's amazing how quickly we can adapt and progress (the Shred is a terrific example of that!).
I'm glad to have other beginning runners to train with. Go team!

Damn, I can't run! Literally. I've tried, but I'm just not built for it.
I will continue to shred with you... :-)

I'm totally in! Just signed up for a local 5K that's taking place on the 4th of July so I get an extra two weeks to train. Already got my training schedule in place. First run on Sunday! I'm totally one of those people who hates running. Love soccer, hate running. Much too boring. But I've always wanted to try so I'll give it a shot!

Ok, so I was already starting in on the Couch to 5K program, so this is great. I'm back on the wagon!

I'm in - I'm running a 5k in September, and I need all the training I can get!

I wanted to thank you for bringing this up. I have been doing the shred DVD and the Banish the Fat one since January and I was looking for something else and now I will be signing up for my first 5k. So thanks for the kick in the butt;>
