The Burpcatcher: It catches more than burps

So I'm back in the world of spit, drool, and skooch. You know. The lovely milky curdy white spit up that you had on at least one of the shoulders of every one of your shirts.

Yes. That yummy stuff.

Maybe some of you were extra well prepared and never got any on you, but I could never find the time or energy to always carry one around with me. And so. My shirts suffered. Sometimes my pants. Sometimes everything I was wearing.

You'd think that I would learn the first time around. But here I am again. And aside from sticking a bib (ACK) on my one-month old son, I'm enduring the skooch yet again. And honestly, it doesn't bother me as much as some people (read: my husband). He freaks out when he hears him burp. It's like the house is on fire or something.

Seriously.

So, I was more than happy to test out the Burpcatcher, a handy and inexpensive product invented by mom and journalist Margaret Pressler. It's simple -- it's a burpcloth with a pocket. So, when they do burp or vurp or whatever they do, you've actually got something to catch it.

Genius. Like so genius it sort of ticks me off that I didn't think of it.

Anyway, it's a simple white with various color trim (I had a sage green) and it would certainly make a great little shower gift and new mom or dad gift. My only annoyance with it is that I had a hard time keeping it on my slopey shoulders -- maybe they'll make it in that cool funky shape cloth that is thinner on the shoulder section so that it stays on a bit better for us thin shoulder types.

So, save your clothes. But the burpcatcher. Thank me later.

I was blessed with a child who **NEVER** spit up. That said, when I looked at this product I found myself thinking that it would be great if you could tie it onto the child like a bib and then drape it over your shoulder. Then again, I never did develop the skills/coordination needed to wrangle a burp cloth because I didn't get the practice.
