Note: Okay, so as I've upped my dosage of the medication Viibryd, I've noticed a few side effects that I'm not keen on that I want to share with you. I'm definitely having stomach issues when I take the medication, and I've also noticed that I'm more tired (especially right after I take it) and having crazy dreams. These are all reported side effects. Others have reported joint issues and weight gain, neither of which I've experienced, however, I will be discussing this with my doctor when I see him this week. Updates to follow!
It's been about 10 days since I started taking an anti-depressant due to PMS symptoms.
Since so many of you were kind enough to share your own experiences, email me with crazy suggestions like "Hey, you might have PMDD, go see your doctor!," and ask me to divulge the results of my visit, I wanted to share them with you.
I'm definitely feeling more mellow, but that could be because I just got back from two glorious days sans kids with my best friend. And my period is over (Aren't you glad you know that?).
I don't seem to be experiencing any side effects, though the only reaction I've had to 50 Shades of Grey is laughter.
The well-written erotica and porn still works though. So phew!
And the asshole moments seem to be less frequent. And no yelling, even when I was alone with a bunch of overtired non-napping kids for two days straight.
Here's hoping things continue to look up. Because I'm ready. We're all ready.
If you want more specifics about what I'm taking, feel free to email me at kristen[at]coolmompicks[dot]com.
Home health care offers an increasingly attractive alternative to hospital care for many clients. Patients often prefer to remain in their homes rather than in a hospital setting, and many medical procedures can be done in the patient's home. Home health care offers a growing field of employment. For individuals in Illinois who want to open a home health care business, they need to start at the Illinois Department of Public Health. Thanks.

Totally feel for you. Have been there with PPD and since moving to the UK a lot of SAD that manifests especially around my monthly cycles - it's like a downhill slide after week 1. The Brits are very big on homeopathy and I've been taking 1000 mg of Starflower (Borage) oil daily for a few months and I swear it really does help.
Hope you find the right solution for you with minimal side effects. I know how much it can suck.

I have been taking all-natural progesterone cream that has helped SO much!!! But, I am about to take the ZRT saliva test to determine exactly what the hormones are and see if there is anything to tweak.

I am a fellow sufferer and looking to find my own relief. I still haven't found anything that works. IT's a nightmare! ugh....

Glad to hear it's working!!!

I was a mess after my son, and then a completely basket case after my daughter. Zoloft, some vitamin D, and finally having my narcolepsy (yes...crazy) diagnosed helped a ton. I feel bad taking so many meds but I'm HAPPY and PATIENT and not feeling so guilty. So glad you finally asked for help! Here's hoping for many more happy months!

It's such a relief, huh? I call it 'logical brain' and 'emotional brain.' Logical Brain is a better driver, and the meds help make sure that Emotional Brain doesn't try to take the wheel.
So glad it's working for you.

Thanks all -- and yes, Amy. I'm working on it!

So glad you are feeling better! I loved your take on 50 Shades of Grey. Would you be willing to put together a post of some good non-laughable erotica?

Glad things have gotten off to a good start!

I'm so glad you reached out to talk about this with the doc and that the plan you made is working for you. I've always been hormonally challenged and now that I'm in the crazy hormonal upheaval of perimenopause the period before my period is not pleasant. I'm pretty sure it would be more hellish if I weren't on medication. So cheers to you. And screw these damn hormones.

I was dealing with the same thing, snapping at my kids over NOTHING. Paxil is my life-saver.

Wow, that's awesome. I might have to email you... :)

That's so great! Praying it continues for you.
I really appreciate that you're sharing about this on your blog- depression, hormonal imbalances, etc- all tend to be something that women deal with too quietly. Thanks for giving it a voice!!

I get it. Really. This is the good week. I'm hoping by midmonth it still feels like a good week. Either way, we're hear for you. Fucking PMDD.

I was the same way. Never realized my hormones were outta whack. Had some issues last year and since I was done having babies my Dr. recommended a hysterectomy. Well now I take hormones, since I'm 33 for the meno symptoms and I will have to say I am a much nicer, mellower person then ever before. It's amazing what a little medication can do for you. Hope your feeling better.
