Dream a little dream with me
It's not surprising that during my current lackluster sleep training efforts of one cold-ridden and super teething little baby, my REM and therefore dreams have been incredibly inconsistent.
Look at that blatant insolence. Unbelievable.
Add in a bunch of other sick, half-sick, and almost unsick kids and I'm lucky to actually get to close my eyes before someone is calling for boobs or water or to "wrap me up like a burrito, MOOOMMMY!."
Selfish, selfish. The whole lot of them. Seriously, the nerve.
In the past, my dreams have been almost completely realistic life revelations. No flying clowns hovering over rickety bridges to be interpreted by a Google search and questionable website or large expensive hardback book in the "Astrology" section of the bookstore.
Just plain old, scarily literal dreams, expressing quite clearly what's weighing on my mind.
I admit, it can be a little disconcerting, and often times confusing. I've woken up on many a day and wondered if that actually happened.
I suppose it might be a good thing that I haven't had those dreams in awhile, because considering I'm running on about four completely whole and functioning brain cells, I'd probably be really messed up.
But last night, amidst shoving a boob in one little crying mouth and dosing another hot one with tylenol, I had a dream.
I was dressed in a beautiful wedding dress, surprised by a husband in uniform, home from a long deployment, just in time for us to renew our vows.
Apparently his upcoming call to duty during our 5th wedding anniversary is weighing heavier on me than I thought.
But more telling to me was to see that instead of running away screaming, I'm willing to hop right up to the altar with him yet again.

Yeah, re: the sleeping...We've had an interesting few weeks around here. Last Baby (LB) has been weaned and after 11 months finally takes a bottle. And guess what? After a week of that she started waking up and when we would give her a bottle she would take two sucks and then push it away. Now, a few days later, she's sleeping through the night. Combine this knowledge with knowing that my friends who work and put their kids on formula and/or bottle when they went back at 8 weeks or so had babies who slept at 2 or 3 months, leads me to believe that I have been DUPED. They (the pediatricians) don't tell you that if you just put them on formula you will get some GOD DAMNED SLEEP before they turn ELEVEN MONTHS OLD. This same story played-out with my four year-old too, so I'm really seeing some reliability here. That's what I get for offering-up my breasts for the sake of her health....!
And now I'm going to go fix a cocktail in honor of my no-nursing, yes-sleeping existence.

You're right - oh how far you've come. It's amazing how a crisis-type situation can bring out our inner fears about losing our partners. I've had crazy dreams like that, too. (Only with less electric blue.)
And Margo is clearly trying to save you from your dreams by keeping you awake all night. I can tell she's a giver like that.

I got stuck on the 4 brain cells. How'd you get 4. I think I still only have 2 at best that just bounce off each other occasionally.
That dress and that tux are killer. You two look like you're straight out of my husband's yearbook. He too was class of '89.

Even when spouses (not just husbands) annoy one another, the prospect of being without one another is daunting at best. A week apart, I can handle. Sometimes things even go more smoothly. Anything longer than that? I need someone to hold me and feed me booze.

I think it's absolutely amazing that you're in a place where you're sad to see him go. Even if you're only realizing it in semi-states of consciousness between feedings. Go you!

Oh my god Kristen, how in the world could you ever expect that butter ball of a girl to need to sleep? How? ;)
Beautiful pictures and I hope for all of your sakes, that he's not there for very long, or they just change their mind last second. Hey, a girl can dream right? Ha.
