Jophus--I love it! :)

LOL that's so cute - little ones have such a quirky sense of speech!

That's cute, though! And it is possible to break yourself of the twang. I went into college calling my friend Kendra "Kindra" and it only took one mocking to clean up that particular speech impediment.

All I can think of now is the lyrics to There Were Three Jollyfishermen who all went down to AmsterDAMN. Teach her that one instead.

just wait until your kids start calling you "Maaaammma" and "Daaaddy" a la Britney Spears' accent. LOL!

Oh gosh, I'm sorry...I just can't help but giggle.
The "ham" part is fitting, only because our priest was telling us that in Arabic, Bethlehem means "House of Meat".
That's probably why I can't stop laughing.

1. i don't git it.
2. you know my kids are being raised in texas when a note from my daughter reads: "mom you're purty."
(correct use of the "'" . . . and you gotta admit at least it's spelled correctly if you're following phonetics.) =)

I'm from the midwest and I find myself saying y'all sometimes.
As long as your kids aren't wanting to marry kin, I say all is well.

Awesome - I get a kick out of my kids' accents (also a bit southern) because I have a foreign accent -- it's an interesting mix for us :)
Happy 2009!
Thannk you for stopping by my ovolina!

Well...at least "Jophus" is better that "Josephus", right?

I remember when we moved to the south. I was in third grade. During a spelling test, the teacher said "hee-ell". I wrote down "heel". I got it wrong. She was saying "hill". Sigh.

I'm from Kentucky, and it took me a few minutes to get this. I think that proves your point.

Yup, another midwesterner chiming in, I am pretty sure I say it the same way.

Too cute. My sons are also afflicted with the southern accent (as well as my husband and I.)
I say: Knock, Knock
They say: Who's THAY-er?

Oh hon... I feel for yous guys.
But that IS just darlin'.
Posted by: mannequin | January 04, 2009 at 09:15 AM
Hahaha. That's kind of awesome.
Posted by: eryn | January 04, 2009 at 09:05 AM
That's how we say it in the midwest too. Of course now in my house we don't say it at all!
Posted by: KansasGirl | January 04, 2009 at 08:42 AM
Is that like Bethlem?
Posted by: Amanda | January 04, 2009 at 05:35 AM

For my little heathens, bethlehem = crayola factory. I think I'd prefer the ham. ;-)
