A Handmade Charitable Christmas

Last year, Quinlan's art became t-shirts thanks to Deb and we used them as Christmas gifts for friends and family. I'm actually a bit more crafty than I let on, with many past years being filled with homemade gifts by me - knitted scarves, sushi kits, and personalized gift baskets.

So this year, along with snagging gifts for family from my favorite gift website (ahem), we'll be giving away shirts and now towels with Quinlan's adorable Christmas tree design again this year, mostly to our friends' kids, her classmates, and teachers. I'm the kind of person that feels like if a kid is giving a gift, it should actually be something they had a hand in.

But since we're very fortunate to be well taken care of this year, I decided to also sell the shirts for charity. I put together a little makeshift etsy shop and with Quinlan's help in choosing her charity from Bloghers Act's Global Giving Fund, we will donate 100% of the net proceeds from the shop to a good cause (or causes).

The shirts and towels are limited edition (sounds fancy, right), and they do make a great gift, or better, a nice alternative to the holiday wear out there (just say no to flashing Rudoloph shirts). Plus, I figure it's a good way to teach my kids about giving back when every day is like Christmas for them thanks to my job.

So please take a look, spread the word, and help out a good cause this holiday season!

Those shirts are adorable - good for you guys for turning them into something for charity!

I love those shirts, and what a great idea to sell them for charity.

kewl.

That is awesome. The shirts looks great! Are they going to come in adult sizes too?

what a nice idea! wish i could afford a shirt - maybe next year :-D

What a good way to teach them about giving to others.

My kids make an ornament every year for the grandparents. It's fun seeing their abilities grow each year as they choose the kit and make them. My mom plans to give them back when they're grown so they'll have their own decorations for their own trees someday.
