Rolling Has Taken Us to a New High... or Low
Drew decided to roll himself right off the bed today.
It was inevitable, really. We've gotten into a nice routine of eating solids when he wakes up and then nursing to sleep. I know, bad mommy to have the nurse to sleep association, however, whatever. It works. He sleeps. And I'm over it.
However, he does not nurse in my arms. Ever. He's still a sling only baby in public, but at naps and night time, it's lying on the bed. And so far, it's been great. Nurse him to sleep, leave him on the bed, and no worries of the dreaded "transfer to the crip waking."
Except he decided to roll right over my large nursing pillow and onto the floor.
Oh the thud. Oh the four second scream. Oh the 10 second guilt (see, I'm getting good at this mom thing).
And so now, I've got to put him in the co-sleeper -- no exceptions. It's really not such a bad thing since I realize now that I'm very quick to nurse him in the middle of the night when he's next to me. I hear him rustle around and I whip the boob out. And I'm not getting the greatest sleep. So maybe if I move him over to the co-sleeper BOTH of us will get a bit more sleep.
And I won't have to deal with any head injuries.
Yet.

I'm off to BlogHer tomorrow. Wish me luck flying standby with Drew! I'm looking forward to meeting lots of bloggers, taking lots of pictures, and talking with them live on the air. I hope you'll mark your calendar and listen/call in!

Not to be all doom and gloom, but my daughter rolled off the bed too, when she was about your son's age, and broke her clavicle - so be very careful. (It sounds like you already are, but I just wanted to reiterate it).

Ahh, he's fine, I'm sure. Nothing a little booby juice and a band-aid can't cure!
Have fun in Chi-town.

I wonder if the length of time guilt lasts is directly related to the number of kids one has? My guess is yes.
Have fun at BlogHer!

Oh, have fun at BlogHer! I'm personally planning my own southern blogger dinner party with Jennifer and Sara where we'll put bibs on each other, take them off and scream and pour syrup in our hair then make each other wash it out. How else are we suppose to act at dinners? I dunno, I've been doing this mom gig for 7 years now. Isn't that normal behavior?
