The end of the Donald and Rosie fiasco.
A smile and cheerful word from my mother-in-law.
The Catholic church to accept female priests and gay marriage.
My husband's libido to return for exile.
Bridgette Nielson's timely exit from any television show.
My still sick 18 week pregnant bff being able to eat an entire chocolate cake (or even just a piece) and not vomit.
Johnny Depp himself actually offering to stimulate my nipples with.his.mouth.
Playboy calling to invite me to be their May 2007 centerfold.
Dooce to comment on my blog.

Added: People to heed my word and put The Blog Exchange website on their regular read list. (The call for the February 1 Blog Exchange is up and running -- you didn't think just because I'm due any second I'd cancel, now did you?).
Some time before, I needed to buy a house for my firm but I didn't have enough cash and could not buy something. Thank goodness my friend adviced to try to take the loans at reliable creditors. Thence, I acted so and was happy with my short term loan.

Ok, so it's a little late as a suggestion, but did you try labor acupressure...it worked for me.

Perhaps Johnny Depp could feed you spicy Indian food while stimulating your nipples. Just the THOUGHT may induce labor.

Once Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz kiss and make up, the baby will come right out. For sure.

No. Your baby is waiting for Dooce to comment on MY blog. That's what the delay is about.
Posted by: wordgirl | January 17, 2007 at 07:01 PM
If he's waiting for all of that, he may be starting school before he decides to come out!
A friend of mine swears by spicy Indian food. You could always try castor oil if you're really desperate for those days in the hospital away from your in-laws.
He'll be here soon.

My bubby was way overdue and when I finally got him out he weighed 11 pound 3!! Sorry, but the longer he's in there, the bigger he's getting!

Smart boy! He's probably also waiting for us to get out of Iraq. I hope that's not the case, though, or you won't deliver for another decade.

But babies are so much easier to care for when they're still in the womb...

Here's some 18th century wisdom taken from Snopes Urban Legends re: "Cannon Father" if all else fails:
"In the realm of superstition, sudden noise is espoused as a way to drive away evil (we toll wedding bells for this purpose, and the New Year's Eve hullabaloo springs from that same wellspring of belief), but there is only one reported tie in that area of study between abrupt racket and the induction of labor, and it involves the ringing of church bells. Rather, the canon of superstition advises the loosening and opening of items to assist during a difficult childbirth: windows are to be flung open, doors unlocked, and shoelaces undone to help the impending mother in her travails. Nothing in superstition, however, advises frightening women into giving birth, much less introducing roaring cannons into the procedure."
Come on Baby we're all waiting!

I remember and sympathise. I gave up pre-natal yoga in a huff in the last few days because I was fed up with preparing for this baby who was never going to come. I was sure I was going to be pregnant for ever.
I agree with petite mommy: make plans. It'll focus you on a time weeks or months ahead and then the immediate future will zip by more quickly.
Good luck!

Make plans..that usually works...atleast for me it works everytime...

I'm with whoever said to make plans. Make plans to go out for a nice dinner. The baby is sure to spoil those plans.

Picotocin is not your friend little mama. Painful! Try to hang in there for the real thing. Rub your nips, make some pity love, do what you have to do to get things moving!

Chocolaaaate caaaake...
I remember that.
*sigh*

*WAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH*

I've been reading for awhile, but this is my first time commenting. I feel you in the overdue department. My daughter Charlotte was 15 days overdue. 15 days. She's almost 2. I still talk about it. It's painful. i'm so sorry.

Just remember, for every day that the baby does not make and entrance, it's another night of sleep;-)
actually, over here the sleep thing's been comparable to the 10 time nightly peeing I did in last few weeks. It was good prep.
Can't wait to hear the news! WHoo Hoo!

Aren't there things that you are supposed to eat to induce labor?
Thank you for the link to Queen Haline. I am enjoying her story, and her bravery.

Plan something fun like a manicure and pedicure, a fun outing with your friends, or something equally exciting and then right before it happens, you will for sure go into labor. You know, life is like that and you'll never be able to actually accomplish what you'd like to.
Posted by: roaringmommy | January 17, 2007 at 10:19 AM
OK, so I'm not really Dooce, but did you get a twinge, a contraction, anything?
I could try dressing up as a pirate and wear some heavy eye makeup if you think that'll help...
Posted by: Dooce* | January 17, 2007 at 09:54 AM
You might have a chance with one or two of those, no? Will the baby accept rainchecks on any of this?
Posted by: Karen Rani | January 17, 2007 at 09:54 AM
I hate to tell you, but I don't think you're going to give birth much before 2008.

My baby is waiting for britney's big comeback. This waiting game is the worst. I hope we both go soon.
