I'm pregnant.
I'm just putting that out there because that's my excuse when I stop at McDonalds and order a Filet O Fish Meal (I hate fish) and an extra side of french fries with a side of french fries. I say it under my breath to the nice lady who now knows me by name.
"Hey Kristen! How are you today?" she says, grabbing my credit card from my outstretched and slightly swollen hand.
"Great!" now give me my darn fries woman (I say, in my head, through my clenched smile).
I'm pregnant and I'm hungry. All the time. For fries. Lots of fries.
Have pity on me. Give a girl some fries.
I had to laugh at the that dude who ate at McDonald's everyday for a month. Remember him? Morgan Spurlock. He made a movie and then got a TV show.
Whatever. A pregnant woman could top that no problem. You don't see them making a movie watching a big old preggo slam down two Big Macs now do you?
But honestly, aside from all the grease and grime and god only knows what they do with those burgers and fries, the fast food places are really starting to step it up. I'm fairly impressed with the kid offerings - apple slices, 100% apple juice boxes? At Wendy's you can replace your fries with a baked potato or salad or whatever else you might want. And the salads at Arby's are pretty damn good. Plus, they're using NATURAL chicken now.
(Not that I'm eating that baked potato OR the salads... I'm just saying...)
So, while I was starting to feel bad about all my drive thru visits as of late, I'm thinking that maybe it's not as bad as I think. Or am I just totally fooling myself?
What's your take on fast food? Eat it, like it, hate it?

I try not to do it too often but now and then I will slip. I have not eaten at McDonalds in years though. That place is just too awful!

When I was pregnant with Lila I was working at the weekly news magazine and had very late night commutes home. I stopped at least once a week at McD's for a filet-o-fish. Always with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion! At 3am.
I don't think you could pay me to eat one again.

When I was pregnant, I sent someone almost EVERY night to get me McNugget meal with super size fries!! I try to avoid it now that I can no longer use pregnancy as an excuse as to why I'm ordering super sized fries...but my son does enjoy him some happy meals so we splurge once in awhile!

I agree with Andrea who said that Mcdonalds puts something in the fries to attract pregnant women, it is so true, throughout my pregnancy I LOVED those fries, I also had a friend and loved them too. We joked because on the way to my house from her house there is a Mcdonalds, and everytime she would show up with fries. I don't know what it is, but they are so good.

I hate fish too! But while I was pregnant I craved it too! I went to Captin Ds more in 9 months than I have in my life!
Eat up girl!

It is very unhealthy. It clogs your arteries. It sets a poor example for the kids.
I pretend this isn't true:
I eat it at least once a week.

Mmmmmm...love Filet-O-Fish.
I really try to avoid it, but we do hit McD's and Sonic occasionally. Kyle is partial to Taco Bell. And a Long John Silver's recently opened in town, and I'm doing my best to ignore its presence.

I think McDonald's puts something in those fries to attract pregnant women. My first four pregnancy months were spent at McD's for fries and DQ for ice cream. I couldn't eat anything non-dessert but fries for awhile. Once at DQ, my hubs asked me what I wanted (as if he couldn't guess from the frillion times prior to that when my order was the same) so I sarcastically told him, "a big ass f*&king ice cream, plain vanilla". That's the exact same wording he used to place the order. I was so embarrassed. What's funny is they didn't even ask what size "big ass f*&king" was. They just gave us the biggest they short of the gallon tubs. And I wasn't even showing yet, so I couldn't point to the belly when we got to the window by way of explanation. Yeah, that was fun.

We've been busy and traveling alot lately so we've resorted to lots of fast food mostly arbys.
I'd say it's ok in moderation unless you are pregnant then it's even more okay. Atleast that's what I told myself when I was pregnant because I always craved fast food and ice cream and toothpaste..Yeah, I'm sure you didn't need to know that last one. LOL.

Laughing so hard here! Because lately, at the end of my pregnancy, *everything* seems to smell like McDonald's to me -- even my cat's food. And oh, the fries. I can't eat enough of them. From any fast-food place. Thanks to you, I just might have to go out and get some fries today. Last time that I remember you mentioning food, it was donuts, and that programmed me to go eat a donut!

Filet O Fish -- that's omega3, right? The Good Fat. I always say this to myself. Good! Fat! Enjoy!

I'm sure "be the giver that way."
I love you Becki. In a good blogger kind of way :)

Babies need protein to grow. Lots of protein in a burger. You don't want to risk shortchanging the child. When you're a mother, you just have to be a giver that way.

When I was pregnant: It was McDonald's for breakfast and french fries for lunch and dinner. Enjoy it. It doesn't last long enough.

"an extra side of french fries with a side of french fries."
LMAO.
Fast food is okay. We don't eat it that often, but every once n' a while we pick up some McGreasy's. If we're going for grease my favourite is Wendy's -- I love that I can get a greasy burger and balance it out with a side salad -- but overall I prefer SubWay.
